Find a Gap for You to Fill In
Mindset
You are unique. Nobody can replace you. But you can choose to be the same as others.
I am not saying that you must be unique to the point that you make everything from scratch. But I believe that you have something different from others.
When people love a character from a literary work or movie, do you know the reasons they love the character? Does the character look handsome or beautiful? Is the beloved character successful? If you have ever loved a character, whether fictional or real, this means something is missing inside you, and that character has something that can fill the emptiness inside you.
If you can find the gap that other people have inside themselves, you can humble yourself and be someone who can fill it. You can observe your surroundings in reality and the digital world. Then you will notice what you can do for the society. You may also find what society lacks. After that, you can develop a plan to be the best of you. But this will not be easy. It takes a lot of time.
You may argue that you do not want to satisfy other needs. But you exist for a reason. Thus, you must exist to do something helpful for others. To be helpful means filling the gap for others.
A novelist can write a story that people really want, for example. I really want to read a novel about a Christian guy destroying the Democratic Party in the United States. Most novels that I see in a bookstore are about sex, fantasy, and magic. Some of them are garbage for me. I like Hercule Poirot, though. But I want to read a novel where the main character is a crusader who fights for his Christian faith, although the world is against his faith.
People tend to have a very high standard for someone they admire. But that is not fair. In fact, public figures make mistakes too. They are humans. They also make mistakes like others. What is the result of showing mistakes? They gain attention and more popularity.
I like Peter. He was one of the disciples of Jesus. He was not perfect. There were times when he failed. Jesus once called him Satan. He was denying Christ. But those failures did not make Peter give up following Christ. In fact, he became the founder of the church. Through failures, he became a very strong person with faith. I admire Peter, although he was not perfect.
So do not try to be perfect. Being too perfect makes people focus on finding your mistakes.
Do not demand perfection from yourself. Instead, demand yourself to accept your imperfections. Find out what you can do for others. Be the one that you love to be. Then, fill the gap that exists within other people.
